Stack Beach Cove Inn owner and hostess, Dolores Stack is a descendant from one of Loring's early native pioneer families. Her grandfather Richard Stack Sr, an Irishman from Oakland California, came to work in the cannery in 1890. He quickly worked his way up from cannery cook to tugboat captain and beach boss. He soon met and married Mariah Stewart, a Tsimshian native from Metlakatla Alaska. The couple made the cannery village their permanent home. Dolores's father, Thomas E. Stack Sr is the youngest and last child of Richard and Mariah Stack. He was born in Loring. The Stack family roots run deep in Loring, with 5 generations later our family still enjoys all that we were blessed with on Naha Bay.
